Jiangxin Temple

Jiangxin Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Caishan Town is located in the southwest of Huangmei County, bordered by the Yangtze River to the south, Taibai Lake to the north, Wuhan City to the west, and Konglong Town to the east. The town covers an area of 110.2 square kilometers, comprising 56 administrative villages, 3 farms, 1 neighborhood committee, with a total population of 88,342 and cultivated land area of 67,609 mu.

In a mountain hollow slightly southeast of Caishan stands a majestic hall — the renowned Jiangxin Temple. It is said to have been supervised and built by Yu Chijing in the eighth year of the Zhenguan era during the Tang Dynasty. The great poet Li Bai once lived in seclusion here after the age of 45, where he built the "Taibai Reading House" and composed over ten masterpieces praising Caishan. Particularly famous is his poem “Night Stay at Jiangxin Temple”: “The towering tower stands a hundred feet high, / I could pluck the stars with my hand. / I dare not speak too loud, / For fear of startling the dwellers above.” This became an immortal classic widely loved through the ages.

On the hillside southwest of Jiangxin Temple grows an ancient tree resembling a coiled dragon, hailed as the world’s oldest “longevity star” — the Jinmei Plum Tree. Legend says it was personally planted by the eminent monk Zhi Dun of the Jin Dynasty, dating back over 1,670 years. It is considered a rare national treasure. In late winter to early spring, the plum blossoms bloom twice, known as the “Double Bloom Plum.” When in full bloom, the blossoms look like piles of snow, filling the air with their delicate fragrance. Behind Jiangxin Temple grows a row of thousand-year-old hazelnut trees. Directly below the temple lies a pond where fish can be seen swimming gracefully.
