Xinhai Revolution Memorial Park is a patriotic education base.

The Xinhai Revolution was a momentous democratic revolution in China’s history. Following the Wuchang Uprising in October 1911, the people of Henan responded enthusiastically. Led by Zhang Zhongduan, a member of the Tongmenghui, they prepared for an armed uprising. However, due to a leak of the plan, Zhang Zhongduan and eleven others were suppressed and martyred by the Qing court. The remains of the martyrs were relocated to the southern gate of Kaifeng in 1934. Due to the unsuitability of the original site for commemoration, in the summer of 1981, the Kaifeng Municipal People's Government moved the tombs of the eleven martyrs here, along with the bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen (1.96 meters tall), originally located in front of the main hall of Longting Park. It was named the “Tomb of the Eleven Henan Martyrs of the Xinhai Revolution.” Here lie the eleven martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Henan Uprising of the Xinhai Revolution on December 22, 1911 — Zhang Zhongduan, Wang Tianjie, Zhang Zhaoyou, Liu Fenglou, Shan Pengyan, Xu Zhenquan, Zhang Decheng, Li Gangan, Wang Menglan, Li Mingxu, and Cui Depu. The Tomb of the Eleven Martyrs of the Xinhai Revolution and the bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen in the park are now both provincial-level key cultural relics under protection. In July 2011, the Kaifeng Municipal People's Government carried out further restoration work.
