The House of Green Delights was the residence of Jia Baoyu after he entered the Grand View Garden. This courtyard is the most luxurious and splendid place within the garden. It features a three-bay hanging flower gate, covered walkways on all four sides, a main hall with five bays, a three-bay wing room, and three auxiliary rooms on each of the east and west sides. The main hall bears the plaque inscription “Delighting in Red and Green,” which was revised from Baoyu’s original inscription “Red Fragrance and Green Jade” during the Imperial Concubine’s visit to her family, alluding to the crabapple trees and banana plants in front of the hall.
