Gao Temple Ruins

The Gao Temple ruins are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Henan Province.

Located in Gao Temple Town, Xiangcheng City. The Gao Temple ruins are a hilly highland, commonly known as Gao Qiu (High Mound), stretching 270 meters from east to west and 260 meters from north to south, covering an area of 70,000 square meters. According to the *Xiangcheng County Annals*, it is said that Zhuanxu, grandson of the Yellow Emperor, chose to settle here, and the Gaoyang Clan established the State of Zhuanxu. Hence, it is also called Gaoyang Qiu (Gaoyang Mound). During the Jin and Tang dynasties, a Buddhist temple was built on the site, named Gao Qiu Temple, later abbreviated as Gao Temple. In 1963, it was designated as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Henan Province. Artifacts collected here include stone axes, knives, chisels, jade spades, bone tools, awls, and more, belonging to the Longshan Culture, Shang-Zhou Culture, and Han-Jin Culture. They hold significant value for the study of early to mid-Longshan culture.
