Desheng City

Desheng City is a cultural tourism attraction.

Desheng City is located 16 kilometers west of Moling Town and 100 meters north of Yangji Hougaoying Village. Built by Li Keyong, the Prince of Jin during the Tang Dynasty, it commemorates his victory over Huang Chao’s forces. In the late Tang period, as Huang Chao retreated eastward from Chang’an, Li Keyong defeated his army here. Proud of his triumph, Li claimed it was achieved “through virtue” and built this city as a memorial, naming it “Desheng,” meaning “Victory through Virtue.” It was once one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Xiangcheng, celebrated in the poem “The Marvel of Desheng”: “In the desolate city, rabbits still hide in burrows; by the neighboring moat, gulls still take flight. I muse on the remnants of Tang glory, and feel the desolation of the ancient Jin mound. Deep in the woods, moonlight strikes more brightly; by aging trees, autumn arrives all too soon. Gazing afar at the legacy, I lean on the rail as the flowing waters fade away.”
