Nandun Mosque is a cultural tourism attraction.

Nandun Mosque is located on the west side of Qingfeng Road along the north bank of the river in Nandun Town. The magnificent Nandun Mosque was built in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties and has a history of over 600 years. Over the centuries, despite enduring numerous wars, earthquakes, and floods, the main buildings of the mosque have been relatively well preserved thanks to the concerted efforts of the local Hui community.

The entire mosque complex is divided into a front and a rear courtyard: the front courtyard serves as a gathering place for Muslim worshippers, connected to the rear courtyard by a garden gate and pavilion. The rear courtyard features grand and compact architecture. Facing east, the spacious and bright main prayer hall sits to the west, while a structure approximately twenty meters high protrudes from the middle of the back wall of the main hall — this is the “Moon-Watching Tower.” At the top of the Moon-Watching Tower sits a sky-blue porcelain vase, which shines brilliantly in the sunlight.

Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee, the Party’s ethnic policies have been implemented, and Muslim worshippers have actively donated funds and materials to collectively raise money for renovations. As a result, the historical appearance of the mosque has been restored. In 1988, the Henan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference listed this mosque as one of the key ancient temples for restoration. In 1999, it was honored as a National Model Mosque.

Nandun Town: Nandun Town is a place of outstanding people and a rich history. According to the "Taiping Huanyu Ji" (Record of the Taiping Era Universal Geography), “Nandun was the ancient state of Duanzi, which later moved south under pressure from Chen, hence the name Nandun. Its city walls were built by Ling Yin Ziyu.” The Han Dynasty established Nandun County, the Western Jin Emperor Hui established the Nandun Commandery, and in the sixth year of the Xining era of the Song Dynasty, it was reduced to a town and incorporated into Shangshui and Xiangcheng. In the Ming Dynasty, it was incorporated into Xiangcheng, and in the Qing Dynasty, the Nanzhi Administrative District was set up. During the Republic of China period, it was a district. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it became the Sixth District. In 1958, the Nandun People’s Commune was established, and in December 1983, it was changed to Nandun Township. In 1988, the township was upgraded to a town.

Nandun Town has a “Shen”-shaped framework of three vertical and three horizontal roads, and the “Jin...” development area in Nandun Town is currently under development. ++Detailed information about Nandun Town++
