Hua Tuo Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Hua Tuo Temple is located 8 kilometers southeast of Zhengguo Town. It was built spontaneously by local residents living dozens of miles east of Zhengguo Town to commemorate Hua Tuo, the divine physician of the Three Kingdoms period. The temple originally covered an area of 48 mu, with three courtyards in a front-to-back layout, but it no longer exists in its original form. Today, three temple rooms have been built on the old site, covering an area of 200 square meters. The surrounding area has been planted with trees, creating a shaded grove. On ordinary days, worshippers come in an endless stream to burn incense, offer prayers, and pray for peace. On the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, a temple fair is held, drawing even more devotees. The ruins of Hua Tuo’s tomb are located 0.5 kilometers north of the temple. Legend has it that during the late Eastern Han Dynasty, an epidemic swept through Xiangcheng County. By coincidence, Hua Tuo, along with his disciples Fan A and Wu Pu, was traveling through the area providing medical care. They used folk remedies to cure patients from Dongxiaolou and Xixiaolou villages, bringing the outbreak under control. People hailed Hua Tuo as the “divine physician.” Later, Hua Tuo was summoned by Cao Cao to treat his headaches but was eventually killed by him.

After Hua Tuo’s death, his disciples prepared to transport his remains back to his hometown, Qiao Commandery (present-day Bozhou, Anhui), for burial. When the funeral carriage reached what is now Hua Tuo Temple Village in Xiangcheng County, it encountered continuous heavy rain that lasted for days, making it impossible to continue the journey. The procession had to pause. News of this spread to Dongxiaolou and Xixiaolou, and those who had once been saved by Hua Tuo quickly gathered in groups, requesting that he be buried there. At first, disciples such as Fan A and Wu Pu refused, but considering the unpredictable weather, high temperatures, long remaining journey, and the fact that they could not leave the body unburied for long, they agreed. Everyone worked together to bury the divine physician Hua Tuo on a highland on the southern bank of the Sha River. On the day of the burial, men and women from nearby villages came to pay their respects. Some carried earth in baskets, others in buckets, and some in their clothes. Over three days and nights, they built a large tomb mound, which people called the “Hua Tuo Tomb.” Later generations built a temple for Hua Tuo south of the tomb, which eventually evolved into Hua Tuo Temple. The village where the temple is located was also named “Hua Tuo Temple Village.”

Zhengguo Town: Zhengguo Town is located in the eastern part of Xiangcheng City, between Shenqiu and Xiangcheng, and faces Doudoor Township of Huaiyang County across the Shaying River to the north, earning it the reputation of “where the crowing of a rooster can be heard in three counties.” The Luohe-Fuyang Railway and the Luohe-Jieshou Expressway run through the town, stretching 18 kilometers from east to west, giving it excellent location and transportation advantages. The town covers a total area of 75 square kilometers, governs 25 administrative villages, and has 56,000 mu of arable land.

Zhengguo Town has a long history.
