Gao Dazhuang Warring States, Qin, and Han Dynasty Site

The Gao Dazhuang Warring States, Qin, and Han Dynasty Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Henan Province.

The Gao Dazhuang Warring States, Qin, and Han Dynasty Site is located in Yuanlou Administrative Village, Gaosi Town, Xiangcheng City, Henan Province. It lies to the north of the Fen River and to the west of Yuying Administrative Village. The natural villages of Lizhuang, Yangzhuang, and Gao Dazhuang are situated on the site. Covering an area of approximately 1 million square meters, the site has yielded a large number of artifacts from the Spring and Autumn, Warring States, Qin, and Han periods. Twenty-two Western Han Dynasty bronze washing basins were unearthed behind Yangzhuang Village, while a large quantity of ant nose coins have been found in Lizhuang, Yangzhuang, Gao Dazhuang, and Yuanlou Villages. According to historical records in the "Yuanhe Junxian Zhi" (Chronicles of Commanderies and Districts from the Yuanhe Era), it is speculated that this site was once the location of the Han Dynasty county seat of Hecheng.

Gaosi Town: Gaosi Town is located in the central part of the city, bordering Guanhui Town and Xinqiao Town to the east, Fanji Township to the west, Laocheng Township to the south, and Dingji Town and Yongfeng Township to the north. It covers an area of 64.7 square kilometers, with 59,610 mu of arable land, and administers 26 administrative villages and 106 natural villages, with a population of 66,000. The town government is located in Gaosi.

In ancient times, there was a high mound here called Gao Yang Qiu (High Yang Mound). The "Taiping Huanyu Ji" (Universal Geography of the Taiping Era) records: “Ying and Nandun, both renowned brothers, compared themselves to the talented sons of the Gao Yang clan, hence the name Gao Yang Qiu.” Later, a temple was built on the mound and named Gao Qiu Temple.
