Xuanhua Catholic Church is a cultural tourism attraction.

In the early Qing Dynasty, Catholicism had already been introduced to Xuanhua. By the first year of the Tongzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1862 AD), the Beijing Diocese decided to relocate the original parish church from Mengjiacao to within the Xuanhua city walls. In 1869, donations were raised to construct the main cathedral. In 1900, the cathedral was burned down by the Boxers, and the current cathedral was rebuilt in 1904 using funds from the “Boxer Indemnity.”

In 1930, the bishop’s residence was built to the east of the cathedral. The architectural complex consists of a three-courtyard, four-sided traditional courtyard house. The pillars and eaves are constructed of brick and wood. Except for the second-floor building in the central courtyard, which features a Gothic roof, the rest of the structures follow a traditional Chinese solid-roof architectural style. The entire complex covers an area of 6,353 square meters, with a construction area of 2,881 square meters and 111 rooms. The entire building is connected to the cathedral, forming a grand and magnificent complex.
