Northern Zhong Site

Warring States Tombs and Site at Northern Zhong. Located north of the brick kiln in Northern Zhong Village, Gaobeidian Town, covering an area of 60,000 square meters, this site was discovered during soil extraction by the kiln. Artifacts unearthed include spade coins with pointed tips, red pottery cauldrons with sand additives, gray pottery bean-shaped vessels, bronze arrowheads, as well as urn burials. Approximately 80 cm below the surface lies a relatively later cluster of tombs. Artifacts found also include Xingyao porcelain bowls and funerary urns containing copper coins. The earliest copper coins are Kaiyuan Tongbao, while the rest are from the Northern Song Dynasty. Also unearthed were Liao Dynasty porcelain bowls, which are commonly found in this area, featuring a beige glaze, grayish-white and relatively thick body, resembling those fired at the Longquanwu Kiln.
