Baiyang Mountain Scenic Area

Baiyang Mountain Scenic Area, initially constructed in 1958, is located 6 kilometers west of Gaomi City. It stretches from Yuhuang Temple in the north to Wild Boar Ridge in the south, borders Guizhuang in the east, and extends to Bieqiao in the west. The Jiaolai River, with a total length of 35.29 kilometers, stands 58 meters high, features a wave protection wall 0.5 meters long, and has a dam crest 4–7 meters wide. It intercepts upstream water from sources such as Banqiao and Boshan reservoirs, covers a water storage area of 239 square kilometers, maintains a perennial water surface of 110,000 mu, and produces over 30 types of fish, among which carp are the most abundant.

After its renovation was completed in 1989, Baiyang Mountain Scenic Area boasts vast waters and picturesque scenery, earning it the nickname the “Man-Made Dongting Lake of the North.” The eastern shore features a 100-li-long embankment with rolling willow waves; from afar, the water and sky merge into one, with clouds steaming and rosy clouds billowing; up close, the blue waves ripple gently while gulls and egrets fly together.

Baiyang Mountain is home to many scenic spots and historical sites,

such as Fairy Bridge, Pot Immortal Temple, Swallow Pavilion, Golden City, and General White Horse Temple. Coupled with the beautiful landscape of the over 50,000-mu

forest park on the western shore, as well as the development of recreational facilities like fishing parks, swimming pools,

and water amusement parks, the area attracts an increasing number of visitors who come to admire its sights.
