The Site of the Sunjiakou Ambush is a cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.

The Site of the Sunjiakou Ambush is located in Xiazhuang Town, Gaomi City, dating back to 1938.

The Sunjiakou Ambush occurred on April 15, 1938 (the 15th day of the third lunar month), during the War of Resistance against Japan. It was an anti-Japanese ambush that took place in what is now Sunjiakou, Gaomi City. A total of four Chinese forces were involved: the 6th Guerrilla Brigade (6th Regiment) of the 8th District of Shandong, led by Cao Keming, and the 7th Guerrilla Brigade (7th Regiment) of the 8th District of Shandong, led by Dong Xizhan.

The overall commander was Lieutenant Colonel Cao Keming, and the deputy commander was Major Dong Xizhan. In this battle, 39 enemy soldiers were killed, including Lieutenant General Nakagami Miyataka of the Japanese Army. The Chinese forces also captured over 50 firearms and more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition, along with the capture of over ten puppet troops. This victory sent shockwaves through the Jiaodong Peninsula, dealt a heavy blow to the arrogance of the Japanese army, greatly boosted the morale of the Chinese people, and inspired the people of Jiaodong to persevere in the nationwide and prolonged resistance. A memorial monument for the Sunjiakou Ambush has since been erected, serving as a base for patriotic education.

On June 23, 2015, the Site of the Sunjiakou Ambush was designated by the People's Government of Shandong Province as part of the fifth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Shandong.

Xiazhuang Town: "Xiazhuang Town is located in the northeastern part of Gaomi City, covering an area of 65 square kilometers. It administers 51 administrative villages, with 11,000 households and a population of 45,000. The arable land area is 55,000 mu. In 2005, the town achieved local fiscal revenue of 17.9 million yuan, an increase of 84.6% over the previous year; industrial sales revenue reached 2.18 billion yuan, with profits and taxes totaling 290 million yuan, showing increases of 277% and 18.5% respectively. The added value of the tertiary industry was 340 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 5,508 yuan."
