Taihe Reservoir Scenic Area

Taihe Reservoir, originally named Jinji Mountain Reservoir, is located in Taihe Township, Zichuan District. It was renamed Taihe Reservoir in memory of the shocking "Taihe Tragedy" that occurred near Diaoyutai in April 1939. In April 1939, – Shandong Provincial Chairman Shen Honglie instructed Qin Qirong to attack the 3rd Guerrilla Brigade of the Eighth Route Army’s Shandong Column in Boshan, massacring over 800 officers and soldiers below the regimental level.

The reservoir lies at the northern foot of Mount Lushan, stretching from Jinji Mountain in the north to Ma’an Mountain in the south, with Qinglong Mountain to the east and Bao Yan Mountain to the west. It extends approximately 10 kilometers from north to south and about 3 kilometers from east to west. The upstream catchment area covers around 780 square kilometers, and the total reservoir capacity is 180 million cubic meters, making it one of the large-scale reservoirs in China. The entire reservoir area features undulating mountains, pleasant scenery, and clean water. It is not only a major water conservancy facility but also a beautiful tourist destination.
