Zichuan Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination.

The Zichuan Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery was first built in 1952 and relocated from the northern part of the city to its current site in 1962. The cemetery covers a total area of 128 mu, and is the final resting place of the remains of 937 martyrs. It also bears the names of 2,258 revolutionary martyrs, including 1,479 from Zichuan and 779 from other places. The site consists of a memorial monument, a revolutionary history memorial hall, a centralized burial ground for martyrs buried in scattered locations, a relief wall, pillars honoring the spirits of the martyrs, a bronze statue of Ma Lixun, and a square. In 1990, it was approved as a key provincial-level protected revolutionary martyrs' memorial building. In 1994, it was named an "Patriotism Education Base" by the Zibo Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. In 2006, it was designated as a Zibo City "Education Base for Caring about the Next Generation," and in 2012, it was named a "Party Members and Cadres' Party Spirit Education Base" in Zichuan District.

In recent years, the district party committee and government have placed high importance on the construction and management of the Zichuan Martyrs' Cemetery memorial facilities. With strong support and assistance from provincial and municipal civil affairs departments, they have developed high-standard detailed plans and implemented them step by step. A total investment of over 16.7 million yuan has been made to carry out high-standard upgrades and renovations of the martyrs' cemetery, significantly enhancing its overall quality. In 2006, the Martyrs' Memorial Shrine was demolished and the Zichuan Revolutionary History Memorial Hall was newly built. In 2007, a marble relief wall, 1.6 meters high and 18 meters wide, engraved with the names of the martyrs, was completed, and grouped landscaping was carried out within the cemetery. In 2008, the memorial hall was expanded with the addition of a second exhibition hall, and the interior was rearranged. The name of the hall was inscribed by the former Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defense. A bronze statue of Ma Lixun, a famous demolition expert and one of the national “Double Hundred” figures, was placed in the memorial hall square. , a high-standard burial ground for martyrs buried in scattered locations was completed, covering a total area of over 10,000 square meters. The burial ground consists of a square, a monument for unnamed martyrs, a burial area, as well as white marble railings and steps. A total of 464 high-standard martyr tombs were planned and constructed, achieving centralized management of martyrs buried in scattered locations. This work was presented as a model case at the provincial conference on the management of scattered martyrs' burial sites. In 2010, the main road leading to the cemetery's main gate was upgraded and renovated. In 2011, a new Spirits Square was built, and the office area was renovated and upgraded. In 2012, the pathways within the cemetery and the square of the memorial hall were expanded and upgraded. In 2013, auxiliary facilities such as a guardhouse, public toilets, and storage rooms were newly constructed.

To strengthen the leadership of the martyrs' cemetery work, in 2009, the district government upgraded the martyrs' cemetery from a previously funded full-time institution at the division level to a funded full-time institution at the section level, providing organizational assurance for the gradual standardization of the cemetery's construction and management. Alongside the enhancement of hardware infrastructure, the management office of the martyrs' cemetery has also strengthened internal regulatory systems. A series of regulations have been established and improved, including the "Zichuan Martyrs' Cemetery Management Office Duties," "Martyrs' Relatives Reception System," "Martyrs' Cemetery Staff Code of Conduct," and "Visitors’ Guide to the Martyrs' Cemetery," forming a long-term management mechanism.

Currently, the Zichuan District Martyrs' Cemetery has become a new type of martyrs’ commemoration site that integrates commemoration, education, and leisure. It is a garden-style, open, and multifunctional space. Each year, it receives approximately 115,000 visitors from all walks of life who come to pay their respects and mourn the martyrs. It fully serves its role as a base for patriotism and revolutionary tradition education, earning high praise from all sectors of society and achieving significant social benefits.
