Juxiang Mountain

Juxiang Mountain is located about three li southeast of Han Zhuang Village in Longquan Town, bordering Hongshan Town to the north and Zhangzhuang Township to the east. It lies on the western edge of the Central Shandong Mountainous Area, with an elevation of 550 meters. Although not particularly high, the mountain is well known locally. From the summit to the foot, there are four peaks that descend in succession, forming four mountain hollows that stretch all the way to the plain. The peaks are named, from the top, Dahuaishu (Big Locust Tree), Erhuaishu (Second Locust Tree), Liushuiquan (Flowing Spring), Shanshenmiao (Mountain God Temple), Daguzian (Elder Sister’s Nunnery), Erguzian (Second Sister’s Nunnery), with the lowest being Luanchashi (Randomly Inserted Rocks). Each place name has its own legend and origin.

Juxiang Mountain, from its highest peak to the foot, features four peaks descending one after another. The two lowest peaks are very close to each other and similar in shape, resembling sisters. Due to the small elevation drop between them, two mountain hollows have formed, which are named “Daguzian” (Elder Sister’s Nunnery) and “Erguzian” (Second Sister’s Nunnery).
