Dongying History Museum

The Dongying History Museum is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a patriotic education base.

The Dongying City History Museum was originally established in 1993 as the Guangrao County Museum, located on the east side of Yuehe Road in Guangrao County and to the north of the Cultural Square. The new museum began construction in January 2002 and was completed in October 2003, with a total construction area of 6,812 square meters. It features a full-frame structure, a solemn and elegant exterior, three floors above ground and one underground, with a total exhibition area of 3,500 square meters.

The museum houses nine thematic exhibitions, including Prehistoric Culture, Featured Cultural Relics in the Collection, Buddhist Statues, Historical Figures, Ancient Calligraphy and Paintings, Folk Customs, Local Revolutionary History, the Origin and Development of Lv Opera, and Achievements of Modern Local Development. It has a collection of over 5,000 cultural relics, including more than 320 national third-grade relics or above. Among them are the earliest known case of trepanation in prehistoric China unearthed from the Fujia Site, various types of relics from the Longshan Culture to the Ming and Qing periods, stone statues, inscribed stelae, the earliest Chinese translation of "The Communist Manifesto", and other rare items. With its rich collections and valuable artifacts, it has attracted significant attention from historians and is currently the largest regional museum in northern Shandong.
