Yingzi Site

The Yingzi Site is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Shandong Province.

The Yingzi Site is located about 100 meters southeast of Yingzi Village, La'an Subdistrict, Guangrao County. The Beijiagou stream runs from north to south through the eastern part of the site.

The site is an elevated highland in an oval shape, with the major axis running northeast-southwest at 469 meters and the minor axis running northwest-southeast at 337 meters, covering an area of approximately 150,000 square meters. The Beijiagou stream runs from east to west across the eastern part of the site. According to preliminary survey and drilling, the site has relatively thick cultural deposits, generally ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 meters. Collected specimens include not only bone fossils dating back tens of thousands of years, but also artifacts from the Longshan and Yueshi cultures such as shell knives, shell sickles, bone awls, stone shovels, stone axes, stone sickles, stone chisels, single-hole stone knives, double-hole stone knives, square-hole stone tools, black pottery cups, spinning whorls, white pottery, and gui vessels, indicating an extremely rich cultural legacy. The square-hole stone tool is unique to this region and exhibits strong local characteristics.

In 1982, partial excavations were carried out at the site. The excavation revealed a wide variety of stone tools with exquisite craftsmanship; pottery items could be divided into two categories—clay pottery and sand-tempered pottery—with red pottery being the most common, followed by gray pottery, and most items were made using wheel-throwing techniques. The Yingzi Site holds significant scientific value for studying the distribution and characteristics of the Longshan culture in northern Shandong. In December 1977, it was designated as a provincial-level key cultural heritage conservation unit by the Shandong Provincial Revolutionary Committee.

La'an Subdistrict: Guangrao Economic Development Zone (La'an Subdistrict Office) is a provincial-level economic development zone approved by the People's Government of Shandong Province. It governs 77 villages with a population of about 70,000, and has a total planned area of 100 square kilometers. It serves as a window and base for Guangrao County in developing an export-oriented economy and comprehensive opening up. In March 2006, it successfully passed the national development and reform commission’s provincial-level development zone review and acceptance; in December, it was rated as one of the “Top Ten Most Economically Dynamic Industrial Parks in Shandong” by the Shandong County Economy Research Association and nine other organizations. In January 2010, it was... For more detailed information on La'an Subdistrict ++
