Wucun Site

The Wucun Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Neolithic Age, Warring States Period, Han Dynasty

A representative site of the Wucun type of the Dawenkou Culture, with Shang-Zhou and Han Dynasty remains in the upper layers. Located in Wucun, Chengguan Town, Guangrao County, Shandong Province, about 3 kilometers southwest of the Fujia Site. The site consists of accumulated mounds oriented northeast to southwest, approximately 300 meters east-west and 250 meters north-south, with stratified deposits about 5 meters thick. It was discovered during the 1982 cultural relics survey. From autumn 1985 to spring 1986, to accommodate the 300,000-ton ethylene project in Linzi, the Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and the Guangrao County Museum jointly conducted drilling and trial excavations at the site, uncovering an area of over 700 square meters. They cleared more than 500 pits (trenches) and 75 tombs from the Dawenkou Culture period, as well as recovering over 100 artifacts. Additionally, nearly 30 pits and one well from the Zhou to Han Dynasties, along with 30 tombs, were excavated. In May 2013, it was designated and announced as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
