Rongzhuang Site

The Rongzhuang Site is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Dongying City.

The Rongzhuang Site is located about 100 meters northwest of Rongzhuang Village, Dawang Town, Guangrao County. The site is higher in the center and gradually slopes downward toward the edges. It stretches approximately 400 meters from east to west and about 300 meters from north to south, covering a total area of around 120,000 square meters. The site was discovered during a survey in 1980. A large number of cultural relics have been unearthed, including painted pottery shards and red pottery tripod leg fragments from the Dawenkou Culture period; black pottery tripods, pottery jars, pottery lids, and pottery tripod legs from the Longshan Culture period; gray pottery li tripods and gray pottery dou stemmed vessels from the Shang and Zhou periods; and gray pottery pots and pottery tripods from the Han Dynasty. The decorative patterns mainly consist of string patterns and rope patterns, while the pottery types mainly include painted pottery, polished black pottery, and gray pottery. Based on the unearthed artifacts, it is evident that humans inhabited this area more than 5,000 years ago. The site provides important physical evidence for studying the regional cultural types, cultural chronology, as well as the activities and distribution of early humans in the area. It also offers valuable insights for further exploration of the ancient civilization in the lower reaches of the Yellow River. In 2005, it was designated as part of the second batch of municipal-level cultural heritage conservation units.
