Ancient Buildings of Yincai

The ancient buildings of Yincai are designated as a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Dongying City.

The ancient buildings of Yincai are located in Yincai Village, Guangrao Subdistrict, Guangrao County. They face east and consist of five rooms in total. The southern three rooms are of brick-and-wood structure, featuring four beams and eight pillars, blue bricks, and grey tiles. These rooms span 11 meters in width and are 5 meters deep, covering an area of approximately 55 square meters. The northern two rooms are slightly lower and serve as auxiliary rooms. Also built with brick and wood, they have three beams and six pillars, blue bricks, and grey tiles, spanning 6 meters in width and 4.2 meters in depth, covering an area of approximately 25 square meters. This ancient building complex was part of the “Yincai Manor,” constructed by Yin Pei, the wealthiest man in Guangrao County during the late Qing Dynasty. It was once inhabited by Yin Pei’s grandson and exhibits typical architectural features of traditional northern Chinese residences. It serves as an important site under the “Rural Memory” preservation project. In 2017, it was listed as part of the third group of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units.

The town governs 122 administrative villages, has a population of 71,000, and cultivates 95,000 mu of farmland. Covering an area of 107.57 square kilometers, Guangrao Town features flat terrain, fertile soil, abundant underground freshwater resources, as well as rich deposits of petroleum and natural gas. It is recognized as one of Dongying City’s first well-off towns, among the top seven strongest towns in the city, and as a nationally key town.
