Zhao Temple Ruins

The Zhao Temple Ruins are a cultural heritage site protected by Guangrao County.

The ruins are situated between Zhao Temple Village and Nan Zhao in Lique Town, Guangrao County. On-site, the terrain is higher in the center and slopes downward toward the edges, taking on a dome-like form. Numerous cultural relics and artifacts are visible on the surface, such as sand-tempered pottery fragments, red pottery jar rims adorned with grid patterns, gray pottery pieces, gray pottery bricks, and gray pottery roof tiles. Drilling uncovered a cultural layer at approximately 1.6 meters deep, containing pottery shards and bones, though the thickness is unclear and the area is quite extensive. Terrain analysis suggests that ancient river channels likely existed to the east, south, and west of the site. The ruins stretch 619 meters from east to west and 280 meters from north to south, covering a total area of 200,000 square meters. Based on the collected artifact samples and drilling results, experts estimate the site dates back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties through the Han Dynasty. It serves as an important physical resource for studying the history of human habitation in Guangrao County and holds significant historical preservation value.

Lique Town: Located in the southern part of Guangrao County, Lique Town is 8 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Linzi District of Zibo City to the south, connects to Dawang Town to the east, and adjoins Zibo City and Binzhou City to the west. The provincial-level highway Xinhedao runs north-south through the town, and the planned local railway — Xingguang Railway — will traverse the area from east to west. The town covers a total area of 66.44 square kilometers, with 75,916 mu of arable land. It has 57 village committees, with a total of 10,806 households and a population of 36,768, including 17,197 women and 1,673 non-agricultural residents. The natural population growth rate is 3.89‰, and the family planning rate is 99%.
