Jiangyao Site

The Jiangyao Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Guangrao County.

The Jiangyao Site is located at the northwest corner of Jiangyao Village, Guangrao Town, Guangrao County, and was re-examined on March 23, 2009. The site measures 329 meters from east to west and 312 meters from north to south, covering a total area of approximately 102,648 square meters. Observations at the site reveal a large scattering of cultural relics on the surface, including gray pottery fluted tile fragments, gray pottery bricks, reddish-brown pottery li (a type of ancient cooking vessel) rims, gray pottery dou (a type of ancient food vessel) bases, gray pottery jar rims, gray pottery jar bottoms, gray pottery fabric-patterned tiles, white-glazed porcelain fragments, brown-glazed porcelain fragments, and blue-and-white porcelain fragments. Drilling surveys revealed that the cultural layer of the site is about 20 centimeters below the surface, with a thickness of around 70 centimeters. The layer contains gray pottery fragments, plant ash, red-fired earth chunks, and fragmented bone pieces. A ash pit was also found at the southwest corner. Based on the collected samples and drilling results, the site dates back to the Han Dynasty and from the Song to the Qing Dynasty, indicating a long period of continuous use. It serves as important material and evidence for studying the cultural changes in the region.
