Houjia Site

The Houjia Site is a cultural heritage site under the protection of Guangrao County.

The Houjia Site is located about 50 meters west of Houjia Village, Dawang Town. It is rectangular in shape, measuring approximately 350 meters from east to west and 300 meters from north to south, covering a total area of about 105,000 square meters. Drilling revealed that the cultural layer is about 2 meters deep, containing artifacts such as gray pottery shards, fired earth, and gray soil. Surface finds are relatively scarce, but collected samples include ghost-face tripod legs, gray pottery li tripod legs, gray pottery dou vessel bases, tile ends, jar rims, fabric-patterned roof tiles, disc-shaped ceramic bowl bottoms, ring-footed ceramic bowl bottoms, green-glazed ceramic bowl rims, black-glazed gold-threaded ceramic fragments, and white-glazed ceramic bowl rims. Based on the characteristics of the collected samples, this site is identified as a cultural relic from the Neolithic Period through the Han Dynasty, and from the Song Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty. With a long time span, it provides valuable evidence for studying the cultural sequence of the region during these periods.
