Linqing Wanyuan Garden

Linqing Wanyuan Garden is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Wanyuan Garden is a treasured masterpiece where the Linqing Sanhe Textile Group has organically integrated enterprise with culture. Established in 1999, it covers an area of nearly 10 acres. The entire garden is imbued with the culture of the Grand Canal, featuring a compact yet flexible layout. The spaces alternate between openness and enclosure, with curves and straights interwoven to create varying atmospheres.

Upon entering the main gate of Wanyuan Garden, one is greeted by a large, round and sturdy stone peak. Its front is inscribed with eight large characters written by Mr. Ji Xianlin: “A World in a Pot, A Secluded Path through Twists.” The back features four running script characters: “Watching Fish Startled by the Moon.”

Walking past the “Fish-Watching Fence” and heading west along the half-wall corridor, one will find exquisite calligraphy works in various styles embedded in the walls, created by masters such as the sinology giant Ji Xianlin, Shen Peng (Chairman of the National Calligraphers Association), as well as renowned artists Kang Yin, Hei Bolong, Sun Dashih, and Liu Bingsen.

Canal Culture Information Hall: The first exhibition room displays the historical evolution of Linqing, the development and changes of the canal, as well as authentic calligraphy works by famous figures from Linqing. The second room showcases the scenic spots, historic sites, and local features of Linqing. The third room presents the deeds of notable historical figures from Linqing, including the Tang Dynasty philosopher Lü Cai, the Ming Dynasty literary figure Xie Zhen, the anti-Japanese national hero Zhang Zizhong, and the contemporary renowned scholar Ji Xianlin.

Exotic Stones Museum: Home to over 200 uniquely shaped stones, all masterfully crafted by nature. These include the “Swallow Stone” from the Cambrian period 500 million years ago, the “Stalactite” formed over millions of years, and the vividly realistic “Chrysanthemum Stone,” among others.

“A World in a Pot” Wanyuan Garden reflects the intimate and harmonious connection between humans and nature through the sounds, colors, movements, and stillness of all things in the universe.
