Xingtai Qingfeng Tower

Xingtai Qingfeng Tower is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Qingfeng Tower is located at the northern end of Fuqian Street in Qiaodong District, Xingtai City. During the Yuan Dynasty, Xingtai was part of Shunde Road (initially a prefecture), and during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to Shunde Prefecture. The area has long served as the seat of a road or prefectural government. Originally situated in front of the prefectural yamen, Qingfeng Tower was an integral part of the government complex. The exact date of its initial construction is unknown, but according to the “Records of Shunde Prefecture,” the tower was “built during the Tang and Song Dynasties” before being destroyed due to war and other causes. In the third year of the Chenghua reign of the Ming Dynasty’s Emperor Xiaozong (1467 AD), Li Guangheng, the prefect of Xingtai, spared no expense in rebuilding the tower. The reconstructed Qingfeng Tower features a typical Ming Dynasty architectural style, with a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof structure. Standing over seven zhang tall, it has a brick-and-stone base with upturned eaves supported by brackets, exuding grandeur and dignity.

On October 7, 2019, Xingtai Qingfeng Tower was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
