Lihang Scenic Area

Lihang Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Lihang Scenic Area is situated in the northern part of Chengqian Town, at the junction of Zoucheng, Sishui, and Pingyi counties (cities). The scenic zone boasts continuous ranges of towering mountains. It earned the name Lihang because there was once a pear orchard in the area, a name still used by locals. Renowned as a “natural oxygen warehouse,” the area is a municipal forest park in Jining. From northwest to southeast, it features three major peaks—Dajiazi Mountain, Huangmuchao Mountain, and Taohua Mountain—that form a connected range, covering a total area of 25 square kilometers. Originally jointly established as a forest farm by nine villages including Lihang, Dongquanli, and Xishanghe, Lihang Scenic Area is the earliest and largest ecological woodland in Zoucheng. It was also the first place in Zoucheng to cultivate apples. In August 1959, when the apple harvest at the farm was abundant, the staff collectively proposed sending two boxes of apples to Chairman Mao Zedong. The General Office of the CPC Central Committee responded warmly with a reply, and both Chairman Mao and the Party Central Committee took notice and praised the Lihang Forest Farm. The scenic area boasts beautiful natural landscapes that present unique views during sunrise, sunset, fog, and snow. Attractions include Running Horse Ridge, Golden Turtle Carrying a Golden Cicada, and Turtle Pool.
