Site of Sidingzi

The Site of Sidingzi is a cultural heritage protection unit of Jining City.

The Site of Sidingzi is located about 1 kilometer north of Qijayu Village, Tianhuang Town, Zoucheng City, and was discovered in February 1965. The site stretches 200 meters from east to west and 100 meters from north to south, covering an area of 20,000 square meters. It is a Western Zhou Dynasty site with remains also dating back to the Eastern Zhou and Han Dynasties.

The surface of the site has scattered pottery fragments, and it is surrounded by cliffs, with exposed cultural layers about 2 meters thick and the soil being grayish-brown. The cultural content is mainly from the Western Zhou period. Within the site, 25 pieces of bronze ware have been unearthed from ancient tombs, including plates, gui (food vessels), jiang (tools), ding (tripods), li (tripod cauldrons), and hu (jars with straps); jade artifacts such as bi (jade disks), gui (jade tablets), and small jade plaques; pottery items such as dou (bean-shaped dishes); and stone tools such as axes and chisels. Among the bronze items, five bear inscriptions, among which the “Lu Zai Sifu Li” (Li tripod of Zai Sifu of Lu) and the “Bo Sifu Pan” (Pan of Bo Sifu) are considered fine examples of Western Zhou bronze ware. Research suggests they were part of the dowry given by Bo Sifu, a nobleman of the State of Lu in the late Western Zhou period, for his daughter. In 1985, the Site of Sidingzi was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit of Jining City.

Qijayu Village: Located in Tianhuang Town, Zoucheng City, Qijayu Village lies directly to the west of the town center, approximately 10 kilometers from the town government. The village has 618 households, with a population of 2,183, and cultivates 2,257 mu of arable land, averaging 1.03 mu per person. The area is suitable for growing crops such as peanuts, sweet potatoes, and corn. There are 1,000 mu of forested land. The village administers 8 villager groups, and its main industry is peanut farming, with products primarily sold within the county.
