The Nanguan Shang Dynasty Site is located approximately 400 meters east of Nanguan Neighborhood Committee in the urban area, on the northern bank of the Dashe River. The Nanguan Shang Dynasty Site is located approximately 400 meters east of Nanguan Neighborhood Committee in the urban area, on the northern bank of the Dashe River. In 1980, a small-scale trial excavation was conducted here, yielding complete pottery artifacts such as li tripods, basins, jars, dou stem cups, ling vessels, hu scoops, and gui food containers. Later, a group of Shang Dynasty tombs was discovered to the east of the site. Artifacts unearthed from these tombs—including bronze zhi drinking vessels, gu beakers, curved bronze knives, and bronze ge dagger-axes—prove that the site dates back to the late Shang Dynasty. In September 1987, a training program for archaeological team leaders organized by the National Cultural Heritage Administration conducted excavations in the eastern part of the site, where early relics and remains of the Longshan Culture were also discovered.
