Tomb of Wan Zhang

The Tomb of Wan Zhang is a cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.

The Tomb of Wan Zhang is located to the east of Wancun Village, 5 kilometers southwest of Zoucheng City. The tomb site is rectangular in shape, covering a total area of 3,200 square meters, and is surrounded by 46 ancient cypress trees. At the front is a small sacred path, in the middle stands a three-bay offering hall with a single-eave flush-gable roof. The hall has a front corridor and a rear gate. Inside the hall, there used to be a memorial tablet for Wan Zhang, which was later damaged. Behind the hall lies the tomb mound of Wan Zhang, standing 2.2 meters high and 6 meters in diameter.

The Continued Annals of Zou County from the 18th year of the Guangxu reign in the Qing Dynasty recorded that during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty, Zou County Magistrate Zhang Tai discovered the Tomb of Wan Zhang to the east of Wancun Village. The Wan Zhang Forest Tomb was constructed during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty. In 1985, the tomb was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit of Jining City. In November 1990, the Zou County Cultural Relics Preservation Office conducted a survey, mapping, and developed a restoration plan for the tomb’s mausoleum and offering hall.

It is an emerging, civilized, and important town integrating agricultural, suburban, and industrial-mining service characteristics.

The town is adjacent to the city and close to mining areas, rich in resources, with convenient communication and transportation, and a solid industrial foundation.
