The Zhonghua Cherry Garden Scenic Area is located in Shuiquan Town, Shanting District, in the northern part of Zaozhuang City. The town is known as the “Hometown of China’s Fire Cherries” and the “Hometown of China’s Exotic Stone Gardens.” It is recognized as a National Environmentally Beautiful Town, a National First-Class Standardization Demonstration Zone, a National Base for Introducing Foreign Intellectual Achievements, a Provincial-level Fruit and Orchard Horticulture Town, and a Provincial Base for Introducing High-Quality Foreign Sweet Cherry Varieties. Shuiquan is the birthplace of Zhonghua cherries, with a cultivation history of over 3,000 years, and has been designated as the “Hometown of Shandong Shanting Fire Cherries.” In 2010, “Shanting Fire Cherries” obtained National Geographical Indication Product Protection status. In recent years, Shuiquan Town has actively leveraged its resource advantages to develop leisure, tourism, ecological, and sightseeing agriculture. It has planned and constructed a 20,000-mu fire cherry picking garden and a 7-kilometer cycling and fitness greenway around Cherry Blossom Lake. The town has successfully hosted four editions of the “China Shanting Fire Cherry Cultural Tourism Festival,” receiving over 500,000 visitors. Currently, Shuiquan Town has developed 80,000 mu of high-quality fire cherry varieties such as Hongdeng, Meizao, and Daihong, along with more than 5,000 cherry greenhouses. These produce 18 million kilograms of premium fire cherries annually, generating an output value of 350 million yuan.
