Guniujiang Turtle-Snake Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area

The Guniujiang Turtle-Snake Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Zaozhuang Guniujiang Turtle-Snake Lake National Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in the southeastern part of Shanting District, Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province. It mainly consists of seven parts: the Guniujiang Scenic Area, the Turtle-Snake Lake (Zhoucheng Reservoir) Scenic Area, the Xiong'er Mountain Scenic Area, and an ecological protection zone, covering a total area of approximately 128 square kilometers. The central water body of the scenic area refers to Zhoucheng Reservoir, situated at the foot of Guniujiang Mountain and nestled between Turtle Mountain and Snake Mountain—also known as Turtle-Snake Lake—with a water surface area of about 6.39 square kilometers. Turtle-Snake Lake is connected to the Guniujiang Scenic Area and is surrounded by rolling hills, offering vast waters and picturesque scenery. The area combines various natural resources such as "table mountains (Gù)," valleys, springs, rivers, and lakes. The iconic table mountain landforms, represented by Guniujiang, appear in clusters throughout the scenic area, numbering over 30, making it a rare geological wonder in China. In recent years, through continuous development and conservation efforts, the Guniujiang Turtle-Snake Lake National Water Conservancy Scenic Area has been designated as a National Forest Park, a National Geopark, a National Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Site, a Provincial Scenic Area, a Provincial Nature Reserve, and one of Shandong’s Top Ten Most Charming Attractions.
