The Eighth Route Army Baodugu Anti-Japanese Memorial Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction, a science education base, a classic red tourism destination, a patriotic education base, and a defense education base.

The Eighth Route Army Baodugu Anti-Japanese Memorial Park is situated at the foot of the Baodugu National Forest Park, a national 4A-level scenic area. It is among China’s Top 100 Classic Red Tourism Attractions, a National Science Education Base, one of the second batch of Anti-Japanese War historical sites announced by the State Council, a Provincial Defense Education Base designated by the provincial government, a teaching and research base of the Shandong Administration Institute, a provincial-level patriotic education base, and a “Three Together” education practice base for party members and cadres in Zaozhuang City. The project commenced in 2011 and is now a national 3A-level tourist attraction. It organically integrates anti-Japanese red culture, southern Shandong folk culture, and distinctive educational facilities into the natural landscape of southern Shandong, fully realizing the key functions of a patriotic education base, including commemoration, historical education, experiential participation, and specialized training. The project is divided into two main thematic areas: the Historical Exhibition Area and the Memorial Education Area. The Historical Exhibition Area is based on the old mountain village from the wartime period, with the glorious revolutionary history of the people of Shanting as its backdrop, and focuses on anti-Japanese culture and folk culture as its main content. A red mountain village has been constructed to highlight the historical scenes of the Baodugu Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Base. Seven historical exhibition halls have been built, including the Memorial Hall of the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army, the Political Department of the 115th Division, the Headquarters of the 115th Division, the Memorial Hall of Wang Lushui, the Party Committee of Southern Shandong, the Administrative Office of Southern Shandong, and the Military Region of Southern Shandong. These primarily showcase the glorious journey of the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army in southern Shandong and the anti-Japanese revolutionary history of the military and civilians in the region. Additionally, six functional venues have been established: the Baodugu Drama Troupe, the Eighth Route Army Anti-Japanese Night School, the Eighth Route Army Uniform Factory, the Armory, the Eighth Route Army Canteen, and the Eighth Route Army Food Production Workshop. These mainly serve functions such as artistic performances, video screenings, and experiencing wartime production and daily life. The Memorial Education Area is primarily located in the eastern mountain stream of the memorial park, where the Baodugu Anti-Japanese Base Memorial Monument, a shooting range, and a training ground have been constructed. With the design philosophy of commemorating history, honoring martyrs, cherishing peace, and warning future generations, this area enriches and enhances the park’s thematic memorial and experiential participation functions. The monument stands 19.39 meters tall, symbolizing the year 1939 when the 115th Division was stationed in the Baodugu mountainous region. The monument is designed with two steel guns leaning together, forming both the shape of the Chinese character “八” (eight) and “人” (person), signifying that the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army took root in the Baodugu mountains and fought alongside the people of southern Shandong. The front of the central part of the monument is inscribed with the red characters “Eighth Route Army Baodugu Anti-Japanese Memorial Monument,” while the back bears the words “Eternal Glory to the People’s Heroes.” The top of the monument is adorned with a red five-pointed star, symbolizing the everlasting revolutionary spirit of the Eighth Route Army and the people of southern Shandong shining over the Baodugu mountains.

Shuangshanjian Village: Shuangshanjian Village is located in the eastern part of Beizhuang Town, on the northern shore of Zhoucun Reservoir. It is home to the national 4A-level Baodugu National Forest Park. In 2014, Shuangshanjian Village was honored as a “Provincial-Level Characteristic Tourism Village.” The village boasts beautiful scenery and a pleasant environment. It administers four natural villages: Shuangshanjian, Caocun, Xingshantou, and Houzhai. The village has a total of 460 households and a population of 1,903. The village’s “two committees” consist of four members, and there are 41 party members. The total area is over 7,600 mu, including more than 2,300 mu of arable land.
