The Former Site of Ye Ting's Command Post of the 24th Army of the National Revolutionary Army is a classic destination on China's red tourism routes.

The Former Site of Ye Ting's Command Post of the 24th Army of the National Revolutionary Army is a key cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province. It is located within the 171st Hospital of the People's Liberation Army in downtown Jiujiang. Originally the apartment of G. H. Goddard, the principal of St. John's Middle School in the United States, it’s a two-story Western-style corridor building facing east, built with brick and wood, covering a floor area of 224 square meters.

In mid-July 1927, Ye Ting led the 24th Army of the National Revolutionary Army to Jiujiang, setting up his command post in this two-story Western-style building at St. John’s Middle School. Communist leaders who had gathered in Jiujiang held multiple important meetings here to plan and prepare for the Nanchang Uprising. On the 26th, Ye Ting departed from here by train to Nanchang to take part in the uprising.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the site underwent several restorations. In December 1987, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit by the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government. In July 2007, it was opened to the public as the "Birthplace of the August 1st Uprising – Memorial Museum of Ye Ting’s Command Post in Jiujiang."

Ye Ting (1896–1946), courtesy name Xiyi, also known as Xiping, was born in Huiyang County, Zhou Tianhui Shu Lou Village. He was a renowned Chinese military leader and one of the founders of the People’s Liberation Army.

He was born in 1896 in Huiyang County, Guangdong Province.

In 1911, at the age of 15, while studying at Huizhou Prefectural Secondary Vocational School, Ye Ting resolutely cut off his queue (braid) and wholeheartedly supported Sun Yat-sen’s struggle against the feudal rule of the Qing Dynasty.
