The site of the Nanchang Uprising Jiujiang "Small Boat Meeting" is located in Gantang Lake within Jiujiang city. On July 25, 1927, He Long, Ye Ting, Ye Jianying, Gao Yuhan, and Liao Qianwu held an emergency meeting on a small boat in Gantang Lake under the pretext of boating. At the meeting, Ye Jianying first analyzed and introduced the conspiracy of Wang Jingwei, who was preparing to convene a meeting at Mount Lu. The group then discussed the military action plan for participating in the Nanchang Uprising and made the following decisions: 1. Refuse Wang Jingwei’s request and do not attend the Mount Lu meeting; 2. Resist Zhang Fakui’s orders and prevent the troops from gathering in Dean; 3. Ye Ting’s forces would depart on the 26th, and He Long’s forces on the 27th, proceeding directly to Nanchang. The "Small Boat Meeting" determined the military actions of the main forces for the Nanchang Uprising and played an extremely important role in ensuring the successful firing of the first shot in armed resistance against the reactionary Kuomintang.
