The Former Site of the Military and Political Committee of the Red Tenth Army is a Jiangxi Provincial cultural relics protection unit and a classic red tourism destination.

The Former Site of the Military and Political Committee of the Red Tenth Army is located in Zhongxi Village, Rao’er Town, Dexing City, Jiangxi Province, China. It is a two-story castle-style brick-and-wood building with a layout of two courtyards, three rooms in two rows, and two wing rooms, built during the Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 525 square meters, it was listed as a county-level cultural relics protection unit in 1990 and as a Jiangxi Provincial cultural relics protection unit in 2000.

The site is a two-story castle-style brick-and-wood building with a layout of two courtyards, three rooms in two rows, and two wing rooms, built during the Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 525 square meters, it was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit in 1990 and as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit in April 2000. Revolutionary pioneers such as Fang Zhimin and Su Yu once worked and lived here. This site is an important red tourism resource in Dexing City and also serves as a patriotic education base for local primary and secondary school students. Due to long-term exposure to sun and rain and years of neglect, this large traditional house has suffered considerable damage.

Adhering to a responsible approach toward cultural relics and history, the Dexing City Museum actively sought project funding of 300,000 yuan for repairs and promptly began the restoration work. The project was tendered, and the Huangshan Damingshi Ancient Architecture Company from Anhui Province was awarded the contract.

According to Wu Yulin, deputy director of the city museum, judging from the completed on-site restoration, the work adhered to the “Restoration Plan by the Jiangxi Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Center” and faithfully followed the repair scheme. It can be seen that the newly crafted window lattices are identical to the originals in both design and material, in line with the principle of “restoring the old as it was,” making it a model project. Min Jinliang, secretary and director of the Party branch and village committee of Zhongxi Village in Rao’er Town, noted that this site was where Fang Zhimin once worked and fought. In the next step, their village will cooperate with the city museum to ensure the protection of the Former Site of the Military and Political Committee of the Red Tenth Army.
