Dexing Longtoushan Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall
The Dexing Longtoushan Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism attraction.
The Dexing Longtoushan Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, located in Longtoushan Township of Dexing City, was built by the people to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the struggle to establish the people's government. At that time, Fang Zhimin was captured in Gaozhushan, within the Longtoushan area not far from the memorial hall, and was later heroically executed in Nanchang. Situated by the Nuanshui Stream in Longtoushan Township, 44 kilometers from the city center, the site covers an area of 3,010 square meters. Nuanshui Village was once the location of the central county committee of the Soviet Hu-Wu-De region during the Agrarian Revolutionary period. During the five enemy encirclement campaigns, Comrade Fang Zhimin was unfortunately captured in Longtoushan in 1935. In 1954, this memorial hall was constructed in honor of Martyr Fang Zhimin and other heroes who sacrificed their lives during the Agrarian Revolutionary period. The building has a floor area of 260 square meters and features a classical Chinese architectural style with a grand traditional roof. Outside the hall lies a garden spanning over 2,700 square meters, planted with cypress trees and flowers, offering a lush, shaded environment. The interior consists of one main hall and four exhibition rooms. In the central area of the entrance hall stands a monument inscribed with “Eternal Glory to the People’s Heroes.” The main hall displays a “Map of the Agrarian Revolutionary Period in Dexing County,” while the left side exhibits three volumes of registers listing the names of all county martyrs; the right side showcases maps depicting the revolutionary situation during both the Great Revolution and the Liberation War periods. The four exhibition rooms are themed as follows: Room 1: Workers’ and Peasants’ Armed Separtism Room 2: Establishment of Revolutionary Government Room 3: Overthrowing Local Tyrants and Distributing Land Room 4: Persevering in the Struggle The display rooms showcase portraits and biographies of revolutionary martyrs such as Fang Zhimin, Zhou Jianping, and Huang Dao; various weapons used by the Red Guards and guerrilla forces; as well as revolutionary relics including newspapers, banknotes, public bonds, land ownership certificates, membership cards, and other items published and distributed in the Soviet area. The site enjoys a serene and solemn atmosphere, making it not only a scenic destination for visitors but also an important place for revolutionary tradition education.
