Hui Xiu Residence – A historic residence in China's Historic and Cultural Village, Cangxi Village, Legong

The residence of Zhu Hui Xiu consists of six interconnected buildings covering a total area of over 400 square meters. The compound features exterior firewalls, stone anti-theft foundations, hidden storage cellars, and comprehensive defensive structures. It is connected by an overhead passageway with gunports. The buildings are tall and grand, with rigorous structure. The main gate is adorned with stone carvings of lions playing with a ball, and the stone door frame features carvings of the Three Immortals. The courtyard is complete with decorative stone steps. The interior is divided into front and rear halls with courtyards, paved with stone and brick. The house columns are square, with beams arranged in a symmetrical layout, featuring two side wings. On both sides are kitchens and watchtowers. Various stone and wood carvings are found throughout, all exquisitely crafted and lifelike, reflecting the owner’s luxurious and extravagant lifestyle.
