Wanghu Ecological Scenic Area

Wanghu Ecological Scenic Area is an important part of the Yaoli Scenic Area and one of the best places to enjoy its natural beauty. It consists of a primeval forest, the Nanshan Waterfall, the Huizhou Ancient Road, and the Hutougang border area between Anhui and Jiangxi. It connects upward to the Wuhua Mountain Religious Culture Tourism Area and downward to the Meiling Leisure Resort. The village of Wanghu sits at an altitude of over 1,300 meters, making it the highest-altitude mountain village in the Jingdezhen area, and it boasts unique winter snowscapes.

The Nanshan Waterfall is located at Gaoji Mountain in Wanghu. It is a cascade waterfall, mainly composed of the main waterfall, the Shihua Waterfall, the Flying Dragon Waterfall, and the Floating Brocade Waterfall, each with distinct scenery. The waterfall group stretches over 400 meters in total, with the main waterfall spanning more than 70 meters and a drop of over 60 meters. In summer, this is definitely a great place to escape the heat.

The primeval forest within the Wanghu Ecological Scenic Area is dense, serene, and rich in biodiversity. It is home to over a hundred species of wild plants and is known as the "Kingdom of Plants." There are 648 species of woody plants from 95 families and 256 genera, with more than 600 trees having a diameter at breast height of over 50 centimeters. The average tree height exceeds 30 meters, and the largest ancient tree has a diameter of up to 136 centimeters and a height of 45 meters.

The scenic area also features the "Fuyuan Bridge," built during the Ming Dynasty. It was a key crossing on the ancient road from Huizhou (Anhui) to Raozhou (Jiangxi). The Huizhou-Raozhou Ancient Road has long been a vital transportation route connecting ancient Huizhou to Raozhou. This ancient road extends 10 kilometers from the opposite bank of the river in front of Meiling Village, traversing through Hutou Mountain and linking the two provinces of Anhui and Jiangxi. It is three feet wide, and leads into Anhui, reaching places such as Xiuning and Tunxi. The entire road is paved with bluestone slabs, offering a uniquely charming experience to walk along.

Special Tips

Wanghu is not the name of a lake but of a village. Its name originates from the two family clans that have lived there for generations—one surnamed Wang and the other Hu. Both families migrated from ancient Huizhou in Anhui a long time ago. Huizhou was renowned across China for its achievements in commerce.
