The Former Site of the Command Headquarters of the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Provincial Military District (Mao Wan New House) is a classic red tourism attraction.

Mao Wan New House is located in Damei Village, Qiping Town, Tonggu County. Originally built in the early years of the Republic of China, it faces south with a north orientation, features a mixed structure of brick, wood, and earth, and consists of two courtyards in a front-and-back layout, covering a total area of 690 square meters.

In 1934, due to the "Left" opportunistic line sidelining Comrade Mao Zedong’s correct leadership and implementing an erroneous purely defensive military strategy, the Red Army was forced to withdraw from the base area and embark on the Long March. Under these circumstances, in order to preserve their strength for future battles, the party and government organs of the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Revolutionary Base were compelled to leave Wanzi Xiaoyuan and relocated in January of the same year to Damei Village (formerly Youju Township), Qiping Town, Tonggu County. The command headquarters of the provincial military district was stationed at Mao Wan New House. At that time, Comrade Xu Yanggan, commander of the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Provincial Military District, carried out many revolutionary activities here. Additionally, Mao Wan New House also served as the operations command center of the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Soviet Area.

Mao Wan New House was one of the earliest Soviet areas established in the Tonggu Base, and it also functioned as the political and economic center of the entire county and the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Provincial area at the time, becoming the overall command center for the struggle across the province. It made indelible contributions to the victory of the Chinese revolution and laid a solid foundation for the establishment of New China. Since liberation, this historical site has been inhabited and protected by local villagers surnamed Fan. In 1983, it was listed among the first batch of key cultural relics protection units in Tonggu County, and in 2010, it was nominated as part of the sixth batch of key cultural relics protection units in Jiangxi Province.
