Bridge Park

Bridge Park, located on the northern end of the Ganjiang River Bridge, 8 kilometers west of the city, on the Ma'an Mountain along Fenggao Highway opposite the Fengcheng Power Plant. It was developed into a park in October 1992, covering a total area of 34,300 square meters with a building area of 1,853 square meters. The garden layout is divided into three architectural complexes: on the north side of the park is the Bridge Architecture Memorial Hall, which includes the Splendid Hall displaying basic information about Fengcheng City; the Memorial Hall showcasing the bridge construction history and official documents, with inscriptions from central and provincial leaders such as Xia Zhengnong, member of the Central Advisory Commission, [redacted], member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Bai Dongcai, former Secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, Liu Fangren, former Deputy Secretary, and others who wrote inscriptions for the bridge’s completion; the Donation Hall featuring stone tablets listing names of Fengcheng natives who donated over 100 yuan for the bridge construction; and the Exhibition Hall displaying photos of central and provincial leaders inspecting the bridge during its construction. The hall complex covers an area of 569 square meters, including a basement area of 227 square meters. On the eastern side of the park are the Guanyin Hall, Merit Garden, office buildings, and residential quarters, with a building area of 484 square meters. At the foot of the park’s mountain, there are the Gaoming Hall and Sanqing Hall, with a combined building area of over 800 square meters, standing side by side. The halls are tall, solemn, elegant, and dignified. Inside the three halls, dozens of statues are enshrined, including those of Xu Zhenjun, Guanyin, Yuan Shi Tianzun (Tianbao Jun), Ling Bao Tianzun (Tai Shang Zhen Jun), and Dao De Tianzun (Tai Shang Lao Jun). Their expressions are majestic, their arrangements well-placed, their figures vividly lifelike, and incense burns year-round. The park is nestled against the mountain and beside the water, lush with greenery and a serene environment. Together with the majestic Ganjiang River Bridge and the massive Fengcheng Power Plant, it forms a magnificent natural scenic area. It serves as a tourist destination integrating summer retreat, sightseeing, and religious activities. Visitors have praised it with the poem “Bridge Park”: “The river spans wide, the morning breeze is soft; the sun crosses Golden City, autumn leaves drift. Carriages leisurely return along the broad road; waters ripple blue as light boats glide. The long bridge’s gleam mirrors the moon at water’s heart; high towers’ neon lights reach the stars. Pine courtyards open like fairy isles; temples and sanctuaries intoxicate the soul.”

Since its opening to the public in 1993, the park has received 20,000 to 30,000 visitors annually, with the highest number reaching over 5,000 on the birthday of Xu Xun on the 30th day of the seventh lunar month. Today, this modern park will continue to grow and develop along with the advancement of socialist tourism, playing an even greater role in revitalizing Fengcheng’s economy.
