Golden Beach Ancient Forest, also known as Taihe Mazhou, is located on the banks of the Gan River in Tangzhou Town. It is a famous scenic spot in Ji’an City and a creative base for the Jiangxi Photographers Association. Due to years of sediment deposition by the river, it has formed many flat large lawns and lush wetlands. In early summer, the lawns are covered with green grass, dotted with solitary trees casting dappled shadows, while water birds play in the wetlands and egrets flutter about, creating beautiful ecological scenes.

Golden Beach Ancient Forest is situated on the southern bank of the Gan River in Jintan Natural Village, Zhujia Village, Tangzhou Town, Taihe County. It faces the historical landmark “Longtou Mountain Gouzinao Pagoda” across the river. Locally known as Mazhou, this ancient camphor forest covers an area of over 300 acres. The forest is dense with towering, verdant trees, including various precious species such as camphor, maple, ligustrum, and oilberry. The forestry department has registered and numbered over 200 ancient trees aged 200 years or more, with some large camphor trees requiring five to six people to encircle their trunks. In the scorching summer, these trees spread their lush foliage, making the entire forest serene, peaceful, and cool as spring. Strolling through the dense woods, one is greeted by the elegant fragrance of camphor, refreshing and invigorating. Sunlight filters through the thick leaves, casting dappled spots of light that are fragmented and dreamlike, sparking fantastical thoughts. Everywhere you look, the scenery is dominated by green—rows of yellow-green tree trunks, clusters of deep-green leaves, and patches of tender-green grass, all vibrant and intoxicatingly lush. The camphor trees take on various forms: some like graceful maidens dancing, some like mighty generals standing tall, and others like elderly figures leaning on canes, each displaying its unique charm.

The beautiful camphor forest offers endless picturesque scenes for photographers, who eagerly capture them with their cameras. They carefully select angles and prime spots in the woods, fully immersed in creating their own earthly paradises within the world of light and shadow. Occasionally, passing villagers, shepherds, and cattle also become focal points in the photographers’ lenses, bringing even more vitality and liveliness to the tranquil ancient camphor forest. The lawns and sandy beaches near the woods offer another unique view—the camphor forest reflected in the water appears hazy and mysterious. In the middle of the wide river lies a small island, where deep within the dense woods lives a community seemingly cut off from the rest of the world. These are generations of fishermen who have lived along the Gan River. Their abandoned, weathered fishing boats lie helplessly on the riverbanks, only able to gaze at the water and recall the days of battling waves. But photographers won’t forget them—in their lenses, these old fishing boats resemble weather-beaten elders, quietly recounting their stories.
