Shukouzhou. Shukou Village is one of the eight famous ancient cultural villages of the Lu Ling region in southern China. This historic village with profound cultural heritage is an island covering an area of 12.85 square kilometers, surrounded by water on all sides, boasting beautiful scenery and numerous historical sites. During the Ming Dynasty, it was praised as the “Little Nanjing.” In this small southern village, a remarkable feat was achieved—over twenty scholars from one family passed the imperial examinations. Shukou Village enjoys a uniquely superior geographical location. It was formed by the merger of three natural villages: Shukou, Dajiang, and Dazhou. Located at the confluence of the Shuishi River tributary and the Gan River, from a bird’s-eye view, the Gan River and Shuishi River embrace Shukou Village like two giant arms, creating a unique feng shui landscape of a watery surround with a central green island—hence the name Shukouzhou. The village is situated southwest of Taihe County, covering a total area of 12.85 square kilometers, with 870 households and a population of 3,380. It enjoys convenient transportation, being only 8 kilometers from Taihe County, 15 kilometers from Jinggangshan Airport and Taihe Railway Station, and just 6 kilometers from the town it belongs to (Mashi). The Ganzhou-Guangdong Expressway and National Highway 105 run near the village.
