The site of the former Majiazhou Internment Camp is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The site of the former Majiazhou Internment Camp is located in Songshan Village, Xianqiao Village Committee, Maxi Town, Taihe County. It consists of one ancestral hall and four residential houses, covering an area of approximately 5,000 square meters. Next to National Highway 105 on the western side of Songshan Village stands an ancient camphor tree known as the "Martyrs' Ancient Camphor," under which communists and patriotic martyrs were killed. During the Anti-Japanese War, Xiong Shihui, Chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Government, dispatched the Jiangxi Special Work Committee (abbreviated as TBW and its...), and between June 1940 and January 1945 — during the period when the provisional provincial capital was located in Taihe County — established a secret prison in Songshan Village, Xianqiao Village Committee, Maxi Town, on the outskirts of the county seat. This prison was called the Majiazhou Internment Camp and was publicly referred to as the Jiangxi Youth Detention and Training Center. The Majiazhou Internment Camp detained nearly 500 Chinese Communists and patriotic progressives, including Zhang Wenbin, member of the Southern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Southern Work Committee and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee; Liao Chengzhi, member of the Southern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Eighth Route Army Hong Kong Office; Xie Yucai, former Secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee; Wu Jianye, Secretary of the Fengcheng County Central Party Committee, and many other key leaders of the CPC. The struggle that took place within the Majiazhou Internment Camp stands as a historical monument soaked in the blood of revolutionary martyrs on the red soil of Jiangxi. It is an important part of the history of the CPC in Jiangxi and the Southern Bureau, as well as a significant chapter in the glorious history of the New Fourth Army in Jiangxi. As a secret prison established by the die-hard faction of the Kuomintang during the Anti-Japanese War to undermine the anti-Japanese national united front and to imprison and persecute Chinese Communists and patriotic progressives, the Majiazhou Internment Camp serves as invaluable material and a rare physical educational resource for exposing the atrocities of the Kuomintang secret agents and for providing patriotic and revolutionary traditional education to the general public, especially young people.

On October 7, 2019, the site of the former Majiazhou Internment Camp was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
