Fengshan Forest Park

Located on Fengguan Mountain to the north of the county town. Planning and construction began in 1991, originally named Fengshan Park. It features walking trails, mountain roads, and numerous pavilions and scenic spots. In March 2003, Fujian Forestry Survey and Planning Institute was commissioned to design the park. The planned area covers a total of 179.7 hectares, including a Tea Grand View Garden spanning 12 hectares, a Religious Pilgrimage Area of 1.3 hectares, and a Fitness and Sightseeing Area of 166.4 hectares. In April 2004, Fengshan Forest Park was expanded while preserving the original forest vegetation and the landscape of the former Fengshan Park. Construction was completed in December 2005, during which Sande Pavilion, Yingyue Pavilion, and Hanxu Pavilion were built, along with 2.6 kilometers of cement roads, 4 kilometers of walking trails, two parking lots, as well as supporting facilities such as benches, landscaping projects (including the planting of distinctive trees like flamboyant trees), and night scene lighting. The total investment exceeded 40 million yuan. The park is known for its clear mountains, lush forests, and fresh air, making it an ideal destination for hiking, sightseeing, and eco-tourism. Within the park lies Dongyue Temple, a national 3A-level scenic spot, as well as the City God Temple, Fengshan Grand Maitreya Buddha, Liao Officials Memorial Hall, and Zhan Dunren Memorial Hall. The Tea Grand View Garden, situated behind Dongyue Temple, was established in 1999 and cultivates over 50 famous tea varieties. It also includes a Tea Art Workshop, Tea Bond Workshop, a statue of Lu Yu the Tea Sage, and a giant teapot. Plaques on the pavilions bear couplets such as “A Thousand Songs Sung on Stage; A Pot of Tea Before You,” “Who Can Grasp the Divine Charm of Guanyin? Can You Discern the Craftsmanship of Tea Art?” “Exhibition of Famous Teas from Their Origins; A Grand View of Travel and Culture,” and “Zhu Xi’s Inspired Ground; A Heavenly Gathering of Oolong.”
