Xishan Mountain

Xishan Mountain is located in Yilin Village in the southwestern part of Guanqiao Town. The scenic area features towering peaks, lush forests, rugged rocks, mysterious caves, clear and sweet springs, and ancient trees that reach to the sky. Highlights include the Bat Cave, known for its year-round mild climate, bat colonies, and rumored 99 chambers; as well as the majestic General Rock, along with other unique rock formations such as the Kasaya Stone, Golden Turtle Stone, Stone Armchair, Shark Stone, Five-Petal Stone, Sky-Piercing Pillar, Chicken Crest Stone, Double Breast Stone, and Drum-Face Stone. The main peak, E’jiaoji, stands at an elevation of 1,047.5 meters, making it the highest mountain in eastern Anxi. To its right, the Baiyan Peak rises sheer and precipitous, forming a dramatic natural barrier. From the mountaintop, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of undulating mountain ranges, layered forests, and picturesque scenery, as well as take in panoramic views of Xiamen and Kinmen Island, and witness spectacular sunrises over the sea. The area also boasts rich cultural heritage. These include the legendary “General Shi,” said to be one of the Five Tiger Generals of the Northern Song Dynasty who attained enlightenment here and was later honored by imperial decree as the “General of the Stone Mansion”; the Yangsheng Tower, a traditional earthen building constructed during the early Qing Dynasty under the reign of Emperor Qianlong; and ancient sites such as the Tiger Trap, built during the Qing Dynasty to lure and capture tigers.
