Yunzhongshan Nature Reserve

Yunzhongshan Nature Reserve is located at the junction of Futian, Gande, and Taozhou townships in Anxi County, covering a total area of 3,986.4 hectares. It serves as one of the main sources of the Jinjiang and Jiulong rivers. Its highest peak, Taihua Jian, stands at an elevation of 1,600 meters and is the tallest mountain in Anxi, often shrouded in clouds.

Situated on the southern edge of the central subtropical zone, Yunzhongshan Nature Reserve is the most well-preserved, largest, and most pristine forest ecological area in Anxi County. The region features a complex and diverse ecological environment with abundant biodiversity, including 939 species of vascular plants from 496 genera and 152 families, as well as 283 species of animals from 69 families and 25 orders. Among them, the nationally first-class protected plant, the southern yew, and eight second-class protected plants such as the tree fern are found here. The reserve is also home to five first-class protected animals, including the clouded leopard, and 34 second-class protected animals such as the pangolin.

Yunzhongshan features dramatic terrain with undulating peaks, crisscrossing valleys, and cascading waterfalls, creating exceptionally beautiful natural landscapes. The reserve boasts the breathtaking Hundred-Zhang Waterfall, the renowned Five Lakes and Eighteen Caves, the charming Taihua Twin Peaks, the serene and secluded Taihua Rock Path, and the vibrant broadleaf forests of Gekou.
