Former Site of the Anyuan-Yongde Soviet Government

The former site of the Anyuan-Yongde Soviet Government is a cultural relic protection unit of Anxi County and a classic red tourism destination.

The former site of the Anyuan-Yongde Soviet Government is located at Kunniu Ancestral Hall in Xibang Village, Jingu Town, Anxi County, Quanzhou City. It served as the headquarters of the CPC Anxi County Central Committee, the Anyuan-Yongde Soviet Government, and the Red Second Detachment.

During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, Xidong was one of the key areas of activity for the CPC Anxi County Central Committee and the Red Second Detachment. On August 25, 1933, the CPC Anxi County Central Committee held a conference in Xidong attended by over 500 representatives, including worker, peasant, and soldier delegates from the four counties of Anxi, Nan’an, Yongchun, and Dehua, as well as leading members of the County Central Committee and the Red Second Detachment. The conference announced the establishment of the Anyuan-Yongde Soviet Government, elected Li Jianguang as its chairman, and Chen Zhongqi as vice-chairman. The Soviet Government included departments such as Land, Finance, Military Affairs, Suppression of Counterrevolutionaries, Food Supply, Culture, and Women’s Affairs. Its headquarters were set up at Kunniu Ancestral Hall. This marked a significant achievement by the military and civilians of the Anyuan-Yongde Soviet Area in establishing a people's government under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Its founding signified the official formation of the Anyuan-Yongde Red Soviet Area and ushered in a period of flourishing development.

The building of the former site of the Anyuan-Yongde Soviet Government covers an area of 300 square meters, with a protected area of 355 square meters. Its architectural style blends Eastern and Western elements, featuring characteristics of Qing Dynasty arcade-style buildings as well as Western church-style architecture. Inside, photographs related to the establishment of the Anyuan-Yongde Soviet Area are on display.

The Kunniu Ancestral Hall, part of the former site of the Anyuan-Yongde Soviet Government, was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Anxi County by the Anxi County People’s Government in October 1985, and as a Fujian Provincial Party History Education Base by the Party History Research Office of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPC in September 2010.
