The Zhongxin Cottage at the Former Site of the Central Anxi County Committee of the CPC is located in Fozige Corner, Fozige Village, Kuidou Town, Anxi County, Quanzhou City. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, Fozige was the center of the red revolutionary base area of An-Nan-Yong-De (Anxi–Nan’an–Yongchun–Dehua). In Zhongxin Cottage, the Communist Party of China (CPC) Fozige Branch and the Provisional CPC An-Nan-Yong-De County Committee were successively established. In the autumn of 1930, with peasant militias from Dongyang, Xibang, Yangzhong, Shenyang, Meiyang villages in Jingu Town, Anxi County, and Fozige Village in Kuidou Town as the main force, the Anxi Guerrilla Unit was formed. The unit was commanded by Li Shiquan, with Chen Ti as deputy commander, consisting of 11 members, 4 rifles, and several knives. Together with the Yongchun Guerrilla Unit, it became the foundation of the An-Nan-Yong guerrilla forces. In December 1931, after Li Nanjin from the CPC Xiamen Central Municipal Committee contacted Guo Jie in Fozige, a meeting was convened in Fozige to convey the decision of the CPC Xiamen Central Municipal Committee regarding the establishment of a guerrilla zone along the borders of Anxi, Nan’an, and Yongchun counties. In 1932, during the heyday of the Western Fujian Soviet Area, efforts were made to expand into Southern Fujian. To establish the An-Nan-Yong-De Soviet Area, in March, the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, the Fujian Soviet Government, and the Xiamen Central Municipal Committee assigned military cadres Chen Fengwu and Zhuang Yuying (who later defected) to Anxi to take charge of guerrilla operations. In early April, the Anxi Guerrilla Unit was reorganized into the Second Detachment of the Southern Fujian Workers’ and Peasants’ Guerrilla Unit, with Chen Fengwu (alias Lei Zhendong) as detachment commander and Zhuang Yuying (alias Chen Yisheng) as party representative. After its establishment, the Second Detachment achieved a series of victories, including attacks on the Jingu Highway Bureau, the Penglai Tobacco Seedling Bureau, the siege of the Penglai District Office, the killing of a deputy officer of the Shangzhi Militia, and the public trial of a bandit company commander, greatly inspiring the masses. Revolutionary struggles across the four counties of An-Nan-Yong-De rapidly developed and gradually connected as one. In November 1932, in response to the needs of the revolutionary struggle, the CPC Anxi County Committee held a cadre meeting in Zhongxin Cottage, Fozige. Following directives from higher authorities, the Anxi County Committee was elevated to the CPC Central Anxi County Committee, unifying the leadership of revolutionary struggles across An-Nan-Yong-De. The establishment of the Central County Committee marked the initial formation of the An-Nan-Yong-De Soviet Area. Under its leadership, revolutionary activities in the region flourished. In August 1933, the An-Nan-Yong-De Soviet Government was established in Dongxi, Jingu. In the spring of 1934, land reforms and redistribution were carried out. The area made significant contributions to supporting the counter-“encirclement and suppression” campaigns of the Central Soviet Area and the Long March of the Central Red Army.

Zhongxin Cottage at the Former Site of the Central Anxi County Committee of the CPC is the former residence of martyr Guo Jie. It is a traditional southern Fujian-style ancient mansion, built during the Qing Dynasty with a timber, brick, and earth structure. The building features ten bays plus side wings. It houses an exhibition hall, covering a construction area of 260 square meters and a protected area of 1,000 square meters.

In October 1985, Zhongxin Cottage at the Former Site of the Central Anxi County Committee of the CPC was designated as one of the first batch of cultural relic protection units of Anxi County by the Anxi County People’s Government. In September 2010, it was listed as one of the second batch of Fujian Provincial Party History Education Bases by the Party History Research Office of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee.
