The Xiwannian Site is a protected cultural heritage site of Hebei Province.

Xiwannian Site

The Xiwannian Site is located in Xiwannian Village, Wu’an City, and is a Neolithic site. The site covers an area of approximately 60,000 square meters, is relatively well-preserved, and has a cultural layer up to about 3 meters thick at its deepest. From its exposed cliffs, remains such as ash pits can be seen. In 1979, a trial excavation was conducted on the site, which was divided into southern and northern sections. The northern section belongs to the Cishan Culture, with artifacts mainly unearthed from the second layer, including pottery bowls, stone axes, gravel, and animal bones; the southern section belongs to the Hougang Phase I Culture, with artifacts mainly unearthed from the third layer, including cord-marked jars, bowls, and red-rimmed bowls.

The Xiwannian Site has rich remains and is of great significance for studying the relationship between the Cishan Culture and the Hougang Phase I Culture.
