Dongdahe Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

Dongdahe Site

Dongdahe Site is located in Dongdahe Village, Wu’an City. It features remains from the Neolithic Age, Shang Dynasty, and Warring States Period. Situated on the southern bank of the ? River’s ? section, it covers an area of 0.5 million square meters with a cultural layer 1–2 meters thick. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

Discovered in 1981, exposed ash pits were found on the cliff face, with relics mainly consisting of pottery and stone tools. From the Neolithic Age, there are mainly two archaeological cultural remains: the Hougang I Culture and the Dasikong Culture. Pottery from the Hougang I Culture is predominantly made of red clay with fine texture, including vessel types such as small-mouthed bottles, red-rimmed bowls, and ding vessels. Pottery from the Dasikong Culture is mainly gray pottery mixed with sand, featuring vessel types like high-necked jars and decorations such as basket patterns. Shang Dynasty pottery is primarily gray-brown pottery mixed with sand, with main vessel types including li tripods and dou stems. Artifacts from the Warring States Period mainly include dou stems and ding vessel feet, predominantly made of gray clay with fine texture.

The Dongdahe Site has rich content and spans a wide range of periods, making it highly significant for the study of prehistoric history in southern Hebei.
